Model 1840 Artillery Saber -  Near mint 1862 dated Ames Model 1840 Artillery Saber. This beauty has a bright clean blade with clear marks. Ames MFG. The grip has the original leather wrap and is very solid overall. The scabbard is mostly dent free, with only one dent visible (see pics) with a nice aged patina. JH Inspectors mark on blade and scabbard drag. This may be the best example of this sword that I have seen. - Sold

Model 1860 Cavalry Saber -  Near mint 1864 dated Ames Model 1860 Cavalry Saber. This beauty has a bright clean blade with clear marks. Ames MFG. The grip has the original wrap and wire with some minor flaking of the leather, but very solid overall. The scabbard is dent free with a nice aged patina. This saber is unique in that it is inscribed (etched) with the owners name on the blade. The name etched on the sword is Harry Phillips in an old English style with embellishments. Grip is wrapped with better, officers, grade wire twist.  Oral history that accompanied the sword was that Phillips was at Gettysburg with Custer. Excellent unusual sword. Missing throat washer, but complete other than that. J.F. Inspectors Mark on blade and GKC on pommel. - Sold
